Winterlight – Mirror

Winterlight is the alias of Tim Ingham. His latest release, ‘Mirror‘, released on Solaris Recordings has been feature on Solarstone’sElectronic Architecture‘ compliation and has been supported on many radio shows. Here is my review of this latest offering from Solaris Recordings.

Original mix

The Original Mix didn’t take long to grow on me. More on the ambient side of EDM rather than the Trancier side, the track is beautifully produced and the melody is pure bliss. The tune slowly starts with an electro bass line and gradually builds up containing an array of different sounds. Relatively shorter than the Solarstone Remix, this tune guarantees love at first listen if you like your Trance to be soft rather than banging.

Solarstone Subterranean Mix

The Solarstone Subterranean Mix is a Trancier version of the original mix. Solarstone has effectively used the lead melody of the tune to create a lovely remix. The tune has a really groovy bass line and has Solarstone written all over it. Solarstone fans cannot possibly dislike this tune. The tune builds itself up with the lead melody and the bass line and gradually enters the break down which sounds really experimental and glitchy. It then jumps out of it to create a melodic yet groovy tune. This is a track I’d love to listen to while in a vast open field with no one around me, just nature and its beauty.

Verdict

All in all I’d rate this release a 3 out of 5. ‘Mirror‘ is definitely a good tune but I don’t feel it will leave a lasting impression on me.
