Eric Prydz – Niton

Eric Prydz – Niton

Eric Prydz is a name known by every dance fan worldwide. His two biggest hits include "Call On Me" and the anthem "Pjanoo" which have been pumping out of speakers in all the top clubs and even mainstream radio stations. He manages to gain commercial success without filling his tracks with cheese.

His follow up track is called "Niton (The Reason)". Will it be another anthem or a huge disappointment?

Vocal Mix

From the off you can hear Eric Prydz’ unique style: it’s fun, it’s uplifting, it’s fantastic. It has a nice pace to it, you won’t rave to it, but you won’t want to sit still to it either. It’s perfect for the DJ who wants to see the crowd move. The main riff can get slightly repetitive, but the vocals fit so perfectly that I promise you, you won’t notice. The vocal mix also includes vocals from Jan Burton, who fans of Super8 & Tab will be familiar with, which just emphasises Eric Prydz’ ability to combine the right things for the right track.

Since listening to this I have found myself going "dum dum dum da dum dum dum dum" in my head all day, singing along to myself like someone in need of help. It will make you go mental, mental in a way that you can’t understand how he’s done it again.

I guarantee you this will be a floor filler of 2011, if it isn’t, then I’ll eat my own foot.

Original Mix

Almost everything I said about the Vocal Mix stands, only with the Original Mix I find it can get a bit annoying. You don’t realise how much of a part the vocals play until you compare it to the Original Mix.

I’m usually a fan of instrumental tracks, but maybe it’s because this leans more towards house rather than trance/progressive that it isn’t my cup of tea. That said, if it’s played in a club, you won’t see me standing still! That sounds like I’m being really harsh and I probably am, it’s still a fantastic track don’t get me wrong, but compared to the Vocal Mix it’s lacking. I would still rate it very highly, as said above. It has Eric Prydz written all over it, you won’t even need to ask who produced it with his style being so unique.

Conclusion

This is a anthem, no doubt about it. You will hear this constantly throughout 2011. If you don’t then the dance industry has no hope. I personally prefer the Vocal Mix but I guess it depends on what you prefer. Both mix’s are huge, that I can say with some certainty, I do however feel the instrumental is lacking and the vocals give it that final kick.

Vocal Mix – 4.5/5
Original Mix – 3.5/5
