DNS Project feat. Johanna – Mindful

DNS Project feat. Johanna – Mindful

22-year-old Estonian, Rene Pais might just have created one of 2010′s greatest offering to vocal trance. "Mindful" can be easily regarded as the breakthrough track of his career, which is bound to hold a potentially long lasting effect on every sensible trance listener. Not that I say it may not attract listeners from alienated genre followers! This soothing piece of music witnesses ecstatic vocals by Johanna and two brilliant remixes coming from Ronski Speed and Whiteglow (Rene Pais). While, it is presented in progressive and radio edit versions too.

Progressive Mix / Progressive Dub Mix

The Progressive Mix starts with an aggressive bass line, yet having a very laid-back feel to its beats. The beginning occurs with choppy vocals that drive the mood of this tune. However, the lead melody is the stronghold of this tune, which has been given a lot of space in this mix, in the 3:21 mark. We hear a distorted bass line accompanying the vocals here, which surely defines why this is termed as a Progressive Mix.

DNS Project Whiteglow Vocal Mix / Dub Mix

In his other avatar, Rene remixed this tune under his Whiteglow alias – taking things to a more sophisticated and trippier level. The vocals totally get subdued under the aggressive nature of the melodic elements that are meant to serve the dance floors. Coming back to the lead melody of this track, it holds us in everlasting fascinations – proving how airy this tune can get – that’s because you’d feel like you’re flying and the trippy streetlights are guiding you. You fly on the lead melody, until the 3:44 mark when the break down ends and a huge electro element flashes before your eyes. That’s where the listening pleasure peaks up!

Ronski Speed Mix / Dub / Radio Edit

As soon as you listen to the Ronski Speed Mix, you know that he remixed this tune with bad intentions! Well… a bad and dirty bass line, perhaps. And why not? Ronski Speed is heavily known for infusing his techy style statement in whichever tune he touches – trailing out guaranteed results on the dance floors. Here too, "Mindful" sees a dirty treatment – that strictly dwells on the Progressive Mix. Anything, but you just cannot ignore the massive power this one has!

Radio Edit

The Radio Edit is more on the contemporary lines with more refined vocals. The Deadmau5-styled synth stabs can be heard, with traces of chopped vocals – all in all, making the listening very relaxing. This one sounds like a crossed-genre-rich affair of trance and house with just 3:11 minutes of play. Short and sweet!

Conclusion

A fantastic release on S107 Recordings, which has certainly surfaced with a bounty of some amazing deep vocal trancers. We would like to catalogue "Mindful’ as a strong vocal trancer coming from a 22-year-old brain, convincing the trance world that there’s some excellent music out there in future waiting to touch our ears!

5/5
