Ferry Corsten – Right Of Way – Deluxe Edition

Ferry Corsten – Right Of Way – Deluxe Edition

Ferry Corsten is one of the most well-known and respected trance producers today. And yet, this position brings upon a dark cloud on him. Many trance fans today are sadly categorizing him as part of the so-called "Commercial Trio": Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten himself.

Now, my opinion is, that Ferry is actually the only one from this "trio", who really cares about making non-commercial music now and in the future. I actually found this album by an accident, but listening to it? My friends that surely wasn’t a mistake. It gives me a completely new perspective on Ferry’s persona, and I must say, that I’ve been a bit suprised by this creation from him.

Right Of Way‘ includes 14 original versions plus 10 bonus tracks, remixed by some serious trance names.

The part that carries the original versions sounds pretty dark and dreamy. I was maybe a bit confused by this and I really had to give it a couple more listens to get it under my skin, and truly feel something from these tracks. Ferry always had a very original sound in his tracks and I knew that in forward, but, there was still something yet unheared and unexpected (for me) in these tracks. It seems, that Ferry mixed darkness and deepness of tracks with a strange party, maybe techy sound in most of these tracks. I was … a bit dissapointed by them, to be honest. It’s a shame that specialy these tracks, create 75% of this album. The rest of the tracks have been saved by a calm tempo, deep melodies, and nice, yet unknown vocalists.

I don’t want to be so hard on Ferry here, so I will honestly say, that track called "Sublime", truly made my day. Ferry collabed with The Thrillseekers on this one, and it is truly amazing what have they created. Stunning melody, great bass and beats. This one truly gave me goosebumps all over my body.

On the other hand, bonus tracks, got remixed by names like Cosmic Gate, Agnelli & Nelson and Above & Beyond. I wouldn’t even have to write anything else, and you already know, that this part is really worth it. This elite did a mesmerising job on this album. From slower emotional uplift to hard tech-trance, this part truly gives you a 100% better feeling than the originals. For example, the track called "It’s Time", remixed by trance legends Agnelli & Nelson is truly a track that will make you dance even at your home. Classic, trance sound, great beats and beautiful vocals in this, will just make you fly to heaven!

To end this review. I would say, that Ferry’s sound is not for every trance listener, some of you may like the originals, some of you may not. As I said before, Ferry is a very special producer and he keeps his uncommercial style even with this edition. And if you will not like the originals, be sure to listen to the remixed part, it will get your feelings to the right level.
