Various – A State Of Trance Classics Vol. 2
Pin ItFollowing the success of ‘A State of Trance Classics‘ last year, make way for another huge wave of classics reviving all those nostalgic moments you’ve left far behind; but if given a chance, you wouldn’t mind walking down that golden memory lane again.
Presenting ‘A State of Trance Classics Vol. 2‘; featuring 36 of some of the biggest tunes documenting the history of Trance music, all in their unmixed original versions. Split across 4 Discs, we have a total of more than 4 hours of non-stop classical treatment.
Highlights in Disc 1 include "Airwave" by Rank 1 regarded by many as the biggest anthem ever which altogether started a neo generation. "Burned With Desire" in the Rising Star Remix is a pepped up high-energy mix of the original classic with Justine on vocals – beautiful. "Soul On Soul" featuring Marc Almond on vocals is certainly a big time classic in Ferry’s career. We all love "Satellite" and the beauty that surrounds the track is unforgettable. "Mercury & Solace" by BT captivates your inner being and leaves you wanting for more; no doubt it’s Tijs’ all time favorite tune.
Disc 2 starts off with "Lethal Industry" which is still capable of crashing down any dance floor. "Punk" was the time when Ferry changed his style – and we all loved him for that. "Xpander" is a classic in true sense, being remixed even to this date as the clubbers haven’t had enough of it. Gareth Emery never fails to surprise us, and that’s exactly what he had done with "Mistral" through his GTR alias.
Disc 3 begins with "Yet Another Day" with Ray Wilson on vocal duty. This one is a highlight in Armin’s career. What is a compilation without the breathtaking "Mindcircus" – definition of trippy. "Calling Your Name" is still as fresh and danceable as ever. "Home" gives us a feeling of nostalgia and reminds us of those wonderful first installments of ISOS. "Money Forest" just proves that Ralphie B is in true sense a legend.
Disc 4 completes the trip with "Beachball", a fantasy atmospheric track with nice synths and vocals. "Walhalla" is the biggest tune on this compilation which is a fantastic collaborative effort by Ferry and Tiësto. "Nothing" by James Holden is powerful enough to slaughter any dance floor with it’s big beats and slashed out vocals.
Verdict
As Armin himself states, this album is a one stop source for all the DJs out there who still want to charge up the crowd with some all time classics. Recommended buy.
