Every week, through his Vonyc Sessions radio show, internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Paul van Dyk gives his audience the real deal… Delivering a 360° view of the music that’s firing up clubs around the world, it’s also Van Dyk platform for showcasing the hottest new electronic dance talent. Covering an inclusive set of genre styles, from trance and house, progressive to techno, electro, dubstep and way beyond, all the audio carries Paul van Dyk’s quality seal of approval.
52 stations in 23 countries is the expansive widespread reach of his awarded and globally acclaimed broadcast. Every week millions of listeners from all around the world will tune in Vonyc Sessions to catch the best that electronic music has to offer – all presented and mixed by one of the biggest DJs in the world.
The Vonyc Sessions mix-comp has now become the show’s annual end-of-year highlight and features both the most influential tracks from the past year’s show and a telescopic view of what’s to come. Gathered together across the two discs are 2011′s standout tracks, all rigorously road-tested across the planet and favoured by the radio show fans.
Set against the marching drums of Van Dyk’s floor-arresting remix, Disc 1 embarks with Moby’s ethereally vocalled "Lie Down In Darkness". PvD’s renowned driving drums do similar damage on his recent reworks of the indie-edged "Sundays" from UK duo Hurts and Rea Garvey’s "Can’t Stand The Silence". Heading deeper into the mix, Marco V’s "Nuf Z" and Jochen Miller’s "uPad" formulate house-leaning sequences, while tracks like Carl Cox’s "Family Guy" (in its John Rundell remix form) channel more subterranean techno tones. Those of a trance disposition will (naturally!) not be disappointed with Tritonal’s "Something New", Ralphie B’s "Bullfrog" and Giuseppe Ottaviani’s "Go On Air", which all point the synths back into the stratosphere!
Mix 2 packs just as much punch, diving off the deep end with with Kryder’s anthemic trance-house club smash "K2", Austin Leeds’ electro-lined "Sting" and the big, fat bass-drop of PvD’s own "Rock This". At turns ‘Vonyc Sessions 2011‘ injects thermic warmth, bringing the big vocals on tracks like First State’s "Skies On Fire" and Protoculture’s "Sun Gone Down" then going all-out tough with Cosmic Gate’s smash re-whip of Jurgen Vries’ "The Theme". Closing in epic, hand-raising fashion, Paul works in Alex M.O.R.P.H.’s remix of Linnea Schössow’s vibrant, dreamy "Someone Like You" and the gorgeous, poignant, fleet-fingered piano of Arty’s "Zara".
‘Vonyc Sessions 2011‘ is the third compilation based on Paul van Dyk’s global radio show. This December, its time to standby for another unforgettable Vonyc Session!
